Naganeupseong Fortress and Folk Village is a portal into everyday life in Jeonnam during the Joseon dynasty. Unlike other historical folk villages, the town of Nagan was inhabited by much more common folks rather than aristocrats, which can be gleaned from the many straw roofs maintained on the folk houses.

Walk through the beautifully preserved village and learn about traditional crafts and cultures from the households continuing to practice traditional life here. Learn traditional weaving methods, listen to pansori folk singing, have a mock wedding ceremony, and see your favorite historical kdrama sets in person! You may be lucky enough to see some filming happen.

Upon entrance through the walled fortress, you will find an adorable maesil (green plum) cafe where you may try various maesil desserts like maesil hotteok.

Be sure to make advance reservations for special experiences like tofu making!

We had so much fun participating in LA’s 2022 @koreakimchifestival yesterday 😁 participants got to learn how to make their own kimchi using Jeollanamdo ingredients imported especially for this event.

Congrats to the winner of the cooking competition! They won a free round trip flight to Korea. We hope you visit Jeollanamdo to expand your culinary knowledge and understanding of Korean food ❤️

During Governor Kim Yung-Rok's visit to the US, he visited the annual LA Korean Festival, celebrating the growing popularity of Jeonnam food not only among overseas Koreans but among American locals as well. 26 Jeonnam food companies participated in the 2022 LA Korean Festival.

Posted @withrepost • @basicsunday_cooking Korean knife cut noodles or kalguksu is my all-time favorite Korean comfort food. It’s kind of like chicken noodle soup but Korean version that’s immersed in rich seafood umami broth.

Although it takes time to bring out the richness of the broth. So I use @jeonnam_la Korean soup broth capsules to speed up the process.

They bring out rich flavor in minutes! I made this for lunch and dinner. Took me about 20 minutes to make from start to finish.
